Bladder Scan (Ultrasound)

A bladder scan (or bladder ultrasound) is a quick, simple and non-invasive measurement of the amount of urine in the bladder before and/or after urinating using a handheld ultrasound device.

There is no special preparation. However, you have to drink 2 to 3 (or more) glasses of water to fill your bladder. Once you feel the urge to urinate, inform your nurse so she can assist you with the test.
